If Avast Antivirus is not updating, it must be updated often to function properly. Unknown errors can arise when updating Avast. Incorrect DNS settings or a firewall may produce avast update problem.

If your avast Can not update, follow the procedures below. 

  • To access the command prompt, use Windows + R.
  • Type ncpa.cpl and hit OK. To access Internet Connection Settings, press F5.
  • Double-click the Network Adapter icon.
  • Select Properties. Go to General.
  • Set 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 on the DNS servers. Now you may use Google DNS.
  • OK closes the dialogue box. Check if you can update Avast.
  • Otherwise, follow the steps below to reset Internet Explorer (even if you are not using it).
  • Open Internet Explorer and select the settings (gear-shaped icon) in the top-right corner.
  • Opt for the Internet. Select Reset Internet Explorer from the Advanced menu. Pick Reset.
  • Mark the Delete Personal settings box if Internet Explorer has no relevant data saved.
  • To confirm, click Reset. After that, try updating Avast.
  • If still avast can't update, you must add an Avast updater exemption to your firewall. Ensure your firewall allows the Updater.

If none of the previous measures work, uninstall and reinstall Avast.
